Incident at 5131 North Freeway

August 6, 2006 -- Houston Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of an adult male at 5131 North Freeway on August 6, 2006.

Homicide investigators Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

On August 6, 2006, at approximately 12:50 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a tattoo parlor located at 5131 North Freeway. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Hispanic male in the parking lot, deceased. The victim sustained an apparent gunshot wound to the neck.

Preliminary investigation has revealed two Hispanic males came to the tattoo parlor shortly after midnight. While seated in their vehicle in the parking lot, two or three black males approached. After a short conversation, the black males began assaulting the Hispanic males. During the confrontation, one of the Hispanic males was beaten and the other was shot to death.

The identity of the deceased victim is unknown at this time.
