Incident at 8237 Madera

October 26, 2005 -- The fatal shooting of a man at 8237 Madera about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 25) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased victim, Edward Lee Nervis, 24, of 8835 Richland suffered gunshot wounds to the head and back. The shooter, Darimus Bonner, was wounded in the arm and was transported to an area hospital in good condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.D. Newcomb and Officers T. Huynh and C.T. Hufstedler reported:

Nervis and three other males went to the residence at 8237 Madera to buy drugs. Once there, Nervis began arguing with other males at the house. He then retrieved a weapon from his vehicle and fired at Bonner. At that time, Bonner pulled a .380-caliber pistol from his waistband and fired back at Nevis. Following the shooting, Nevis was then driven back to a residence at 8835 Richland where he was pronounced dead.
