Incident at 5409 Lacy

November 22, 2005 -- The fatal shooting of a man at 5409 Lacy about 9 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 21) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male has not been released pending notification to family members.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzalez and Officer M. Walker reported:

Officers responded to a burglary call at 5409 Lacy where the homeowner had fatally shot an intruder who had broken into the residence. The suspect had used a baseball bat to break the homeowner's front glass door and then continued into the home. The homeowner, 35, fired several shots as the suspect advanced up the stairs while still carrying the bat. The suspect was struck at least twice and pronounced dead at the scene.
