Incident at 6011 Dashwood
June 18, 2005 -- Houston police
have arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man at 6011
Dashwood about 3:50 p.m. Friday (June 17).
The deceased victim has been identified as Fernando
Rivas, 32, of 6011 Dashwood. He suffered a stab wound to the neck
and was transported Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where
he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, Oscar Oviera, (H/m DOB: 3-8-68)
was arrested at the scene and charged with murder in the 176th
State District Court.

and G. Gonzales reported:
Several men were repairing the parking lot of
an apartment complex at 6011 Dashwood when the suspect, Oscar
Oviera, who was apparently intoxicated, approached them and began
cursing at the men. Oviera stated that he was going to his apartment
to get a gun and when he returned, he had a large kitchen knife
in his hand. The victim, Fernando Rivas, attempted to calm the
suspect down and was standing with his hands raised in the air
when Oviera stabbed him once in the neck. After the stabbing of
Mr. Rivas, Oviera chased and attempted to stab a second male.
Several witnesses at the scene chased the suspect and held him
until police arrived.
