Update on Incident at 4900 Polk
June 14, 2005 -- Houston police
have learned the identity of a man fatally stabbed in the 4900
block of Polk about 5:25 p.m. on June 10.
The victim, Manuel Martinez, 40, suffered multiple
stab wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General
Hospital.
The suspect, Richard Marrquin Recio (H/m DOB:
6-16-65), was arrested at the scene and charged with murder in
the 174th State District Court.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. J. Grysen and
Officer D. R. Shorten reported:
Metro Transit Police Department officers observed
a fight in a parking lot at 4900 Polk. Once the males were separated,
officers determined one had been stabbed. Metro officers called
for an ambulance and the assistance of HPD officers. According
to witnesses, Martinez and Recio were involved in an ongoing dispute,
which escalated into a physical altercation.
