HPD Prepares for 2005 Citizens Police Academy

The Houston Citizens Police Academy is currently
accepting applications for class #34 which begins February 17,
2005.
The class will be made up of a cross section
of Houston's diverse community. Homemakers, laborers, professionals,
students, ministers, business, civic, and social leaders are encouraged
to apply for admission. The minimum age for enrollment is 21 and
you must work or live in the City of Houston to be eligible to
attend.
The HCPA presents a look at the internal operations,
values and philosophy of the Houston Police Department. The objective
of the HCPA is to provide information to the citizens who attend
so they may make informed judgements about the police department
and police activity.
The 11 - week academy meets every Thursday from
7pm to 10pm. Instruction includes lectures, demonstrations, tours,
hands-on exercises and a mandatory ride-a-long. The class is limited
to 30 citizens and fills up quickly.
