Update on Incident at 3781 Odin Court #3
February 16, 2005 -- A suspect
has been arrested and charged in a shooting that killed one man
and injured four others at 3781 Odin Court #3 about 3:35 p.m.
on December 26, 2004.
The suspect, Michael Lewis (b/m, DOB 6-18-74),
is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court. He was
taken into custody on February 7. Lewis is accused in the fatal
shooting of John Brown, 22, who was wounded in the chest and pronounced
dead at the scene.
Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant
M. D. Newcomb and Officer A. Mares reported:
Three black males armed with handguns and wearing
hoods over their faces entered an apartment at 3781 Odin Court,
tied up a male, and forced several females to the ground. After
ransacking the apartment, the males exited through the front and
rear doors, as well as a window. As one of the males (Lewis) was
exiting the rear door, he encountered Brown and shot him. Another
male was also shot as he ran for cover. That male was transported
to Memorial Hermann Hospital in fair condition.
The three male suspects then ran into the parking
lot of a nearby grocery store where they were followed by an undetermined
number of black males in two vehicles, a black Cadillac Escalade
and a red Chevrolet Suburban. The males in the vehicles were armed
with a variety of weapons and began firing at the three males
who had run from the apartment. Two of the males entered the grocery
store, where they were followed by one of the males in the vehicles.
Three other males were struck by gunfire inside the store and
were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
