Traffic Incident at Almeda Genoa and Cullen

February 6, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal traffic accident at Almeda Genoa and Cullen about 6:35 a.m. today (Jan. 6).

The victim has been identified as Darlene Thompson Woods, 40, of 14134 Buffalo
Speedway. She was transported to a local hospital and later died.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant L. A. Washington Jr. and Officer N. P. Cinco
reported:

According to witness statements, Woods, driving a Mazda westbound on Almeda
Genoa, ran a red light at Almeda Genoa and Cullen. A Ford Expedition
traveling northbound on Cullen struck her vehicle. Both drivers were
transported to local hospitals and Woods later died.

The investigation is continuing.
