State Representative Sylvester Turner and
Old Acres Homes Citizens Council to present
$300,000 Check to Mayor Bill White and HPARD

State Representative Sylvester Turner and The Old Acres Homes Citizens Council will present a $300,000 check to Mayor Bill White in City Council Chambers on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at 1:30pm.  This check represents the matching funds necessary to complete a $1.5 million Texas Parks and Wildlife grant to build The Acres Homes Baseball Complex in West Little York Park, 2800 West Little York. Park improvements will include the addition of three baseball fields, a new picnic pavilion, a multi-purpose trail, picnic tables and benches and the addition of an information kiosk.  Additional enhancements will be made to landscaping and irrigation, parking, security lighting and wetlands enhancements.

 WHY:This check represents the matching funds necessary to complete a $1.5 million Texas Parks and Wildlife grant to build The Acres Homes Baseball Complex in West Little York Park. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department provided the $750,000 grant with $300,000 coming from The Acres Homes Citizens Coalition and the remainder of the matching funds provided by City Capital Improvement funds.
