Construction on park improvements began last September and was completed in December. The park now features a new playground, paved walking trail, park benches, picnic tables and grills, and disabled accessibility ramps. The total cost for the project was $99,225.
The renovations were necessary after the Harris County Flood Control District took on a major project to repair and restore the Sims Bayou bank and channel. Those repairs resulted in the removal of some amenities to Stewart Park.
