Department of Neighborhoods
Good Neighbor Program
Using the power of community and partnerships to help others
The Good Neighbor program is a partnership with Career and Recovery Resources (CRR) and City Council offices to provide lawn care services to residents who are 65 years of age and older, veterans or widows/ widowers of veterans and disabled residents in participating Houston Council Districts.
The program currently operates in District B, District D, District E and District F. If you are not sure which council district the property resides in, you can find out by calling 3-1-1 or using the map on the Find My Council Member webpage.
How It Works
We provide lawn care services once a month during the growing season (March – November). The services are provided free of charge thanks to our partnerships and grant funds. When the grant funds expire then the services will end. Once a complete application is submitted, we will check the eligibility requirements and send the property to CRR. CRR will coordinate with the resident to schedule a day to provide lawn care (usually within 5-10 days) and will add the property to their schedule to receive service once per month.
This program is funded by Council District Service Funds at the discretion of participating council members. Each application is good through the end of the current growing season.
Services Offered
The service offered is for basic lawn care including lawn mowing and edging. CRR does not provide full landscaping services. They cannot accommodate all requests for property maintenance.
