Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities will assist citizens at tax preparation sites
March 12, 2013 -- Free tax preparation assistance is available to eligible families and individuals at 15 locations throughout Greater Houston during March and April 2013, provided by Neighborhood Tax Centers in partnership with the City of Houston Department of Neighborhoods and United Way of Greater Houston. Families earning up to $70,000 and single individuals earning up to $50,000 are eligible for the free services. Persons with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations by calling 2-1-1 at least 48 hours in advance. Additional sign language interpreters will be available to provide communication access assistance on March 16 and 23 at Baker-Ripley Neighborhood Center, 6500 Rookin Street, Houston, TX 77074. The Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) will assist with accommodations. MOPD will also distribute free visual fire alarms and register interested individuals for other services.
