“Tour de Houston is important to our community, and I am excited we are hosting the event this year in partnership with Houston First.  The city’s premier biking event will have a new start and finish this year with an elevated post-ride celebration, thanks to the continued support of the Apache Corporation and sponsors,” said Mayor Whitmire.  “Tour de Houston is the perfect opportunity to experience the unique attributes of our city - from Downtown to the Bay Area while raising funds for Re-Plant Houston - and I encourage cyclists of all skill levels to join the ride.”

With three distance options, the ride is an optional MS 150 training ride. Distances include 60-miles starting at 7:30 a.m., 40-miles starting at 7:45 a.m. and 20-miles starting at 8 a.m.  Along each route and at Discovery Green/Avenida Plaza, riders will find added seating and valet bike racks, support from bicycle mechanics, police and medical teams as well as fully stocked rest stops at the Houston Botanic Gardens, the Lone Star Flight Museum and Clear Lake Park.

“Apache is honored to partner with the City of Houston to support this annual tradition,” said Apache CEO, John J. Christmann IV. “The Tour de Houston bike ride showcases our city’s historic neighborhoods and benefits the Houston Parks and Recreation Department directly supporting reforestation and the enhancement of green spaces throughout our community. Since 2005, the Apache Corporation Tree Grant Program has provided more than 5 million trees for planting throughout the U.S. with 450,000 going to the greater Houston area. We look forward to seeing our fellow Houstonians and Apache team members along the route.”

The ride culminates with a post-ride party for participants and volunteers with curated entertainment,  expanded culinary options provided by Houston Inspired Catering and Levy Restaurants, along with added seating at Avenida Plaza / Discovery Green for a fitting celebration of a successful ride.
