City of Houston, Fleet Management Department Recognized As A 100 Best Fleet
April 22, 2015 -- The City of Houston, Fleet Management Department was honored by the 100 Best Fleet organization as one of the best fleets in the nation. The winners were announced live at the National Association of Fleet Administrator (NAFA) Institute and Expo held in Orlando, Florida on April 16th, the largest fleet show in the U.S. WeiYao Chang, Assistant Director in the Fleet Management Department accepted the award on behalf of the City, as the 26th best ranked fleet in the nation.
“It is quite an honor to be recognized for all the hard work our staff puts in everyday to ensure the City’s nearly 12,000 vehicles and equipment are working properly and efficiently,” said Kenneth Hoglund, the Director of the Fleet Management Department.
The City of Houston, Fleet Management Department was created on July 1, 2011 by consolidating all fleet operations in the City into one central department. The Department has over 350 employees and 25 maintenance facilities across the City of Houston to provide fleet services to 22 City departments with a combined municipal fleet total of approximately 12,000 units. The department is responsible for asset management, maintenance and repairs, fueling services, vehicle acquisitions and dispositions, equipment specifications, alternative fuel vehicle planning and the City-wide shared motor pool program, FleetShare.
