Mission Statement
The Members Advocate plays an essential role in the Houston Fire Department. Those roles range from General Benefit services to Mental Health/Substance Addiction treatment placement. The goal of the Members Advocate is to provide all available resources and options that a member may need. The Houston Fire Department focus is to ensure the Firefighters and their families receive the necessary support at any time needed.


Areas that the Member Advocate can assist members with are, but not limited to:

  • General Benefits (Active/Injured/Retired Firefighters, HR Resources)
  • Death Benefits (Beneficiaries)
  • LODD (Federal-PSOB, State-ERS, Local-100 Club, Fleetwood Memorial)
  • Municipal Services within HFD (Medical/Disability Pension)
  • Mental Health/Substance Addiction Facility placement
  • Insurance (Medical/Supplemental)
  • Workers Comp (liaison between WC rep and FF)
  • Wellness (Employee Wellness Advisory Council (EWAC) and Wellness Ambassador Network)
