Meet the Advisory Board - John Robinson, sr.
John Robinson, Sr. Director Education & Youth Development,
Houston Area Urban League.
Since 2003, John Robinson Sr. has leader the Education and Youth Development Department at the Houston Area Uban League (HAUL) in Houston, Texas. A 1976 graduate of Wiley College, Marshall, Texas, John has built the National Urban League’s Houston affiliate programs movement into a nationally recognized program. Over 88% of youth in the HAUL programs have graduated high school and attended colleges, universities, joined one of our nation’s service branches or moved directly into our United States workforce.
John has created and facilitates the HAUL Family and Community Engagement Literacy Program providing parents/caregivers training and development to support their children’s early literacy development. This program has trained more than 40,000 parents/caregivers since 2003.
Finally, John is a national consultant, trainer, facilitator, and keynote for Scholastic, Inc. and is known as one of the nation’s top literacy solutions facilitator and trainer.
John has been married to Shelia Robinson since 1975 and is an Elder at the Fidelity Church of Christ.
