Meet the Advisory Board - Carolyn Watson

Carolyn WatsonCarolyn Watson is the Executive Director of The William Stamps Farish Fund, a Houston-based private foundation. She leads the organization in setting a strategic direction in alignment with its mission to “provide meaningful support to organizations of all sizes offering Social Service, Education and Health programs that alleviate suffering and promote the success of underserved populations.”

Carolyn has over twenty-five years of professional experience spanning the government, nonprofit and corporate sectors. She holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Management from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

Carolyn currently serves on the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, the board of the YMCA of Greater Houston and the Bishop’s Committee for her church, Holy Family HTX. She is Co-Chair of the Greater Houston Opportunity Youth Collaborative and Chair of the Texas Opportunity Youth Network’s Leadership Council.

Carolyn’s maternal grandfather lacked a high school education, yet that did not stop him from achieving his dream of becoming a Master Plumber and small business owner. He believed in the power of education and supported his six children in pursuing education after high school. Carolyn’s mother is the first teacher in the State of Louisiana to earn a master’s degree in special education. She is proud to carry on the family legacy of valuing education and has dedicated her career to opening doors of opportunity for others.
