The Houston Zoo is committed to being a leader in the global effort to save animals in the wild. The Zoo serves over 2 million guests annually and is home to over 6,000 permanent animal residents, whom receive the highest standard in animal care. Every time you visit the Zoo, you are helping save animals in the wild. The Houston Zoo supports 49 wildlife conservation projects in 27 countries around the world.

As a Zoo for All, Free Zoo Days presented by ExxonMobil at Houston Zoo are provided once a month, on the first Tuesday of each month, from open until closing. Online reservations are required for all non-member guests and can be made at HoustonZoo.org.

The Zoo is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST (last admission at 4 p.m.) The Zoo is closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Ticket holders can enter any time after your ticket’s listed arrival time and can enjoy the Zoo until closing. View current Zoo Hours.

The Houston Zoo is located at 6200 Hermann Park Drive. The Zoo does not have its own parking lot, however free parking is available in Hermann Park. On holidays and beautiful days, parking can fill up fast, so make a plan before heading to the Zoo.

Another convenient way to travel through the Museum District is to ride the METRORail. To get to Zoo, you’ll need to ride the Red Line, exit Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo, and walk through the Commons in Hermann Park to get to the Zoo. This is an estimated 10-minute walk to the Zoo from the METRORail stop. View other parking options.
