February 22, 2024 - Charges have been filed against two suspects in the shooting of a man at 8000 Miley Street about 5:25 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 18).

One suspect, Zachary Dewayne Scott, 34, is in custody. He is charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon by a felon in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Scott, who is hospitalized, is attached to this news release.

The other suspect, Nerrick Natron Henderson, 45, is not in custody. He is charged with the same three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the same court. A photo of Henderson is attached to this news release.

The suspects are accused in the shooting of a man, 32, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Doctors stated the victim is expected to survive.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective K. Vu and Officer Q. Nguyen reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the above address and were told a physical altercation between the male victim and suspects escalated when one of the suspects (Henderson) fired shots at the victim's vehicle as it was leaving the area. Another suspect (Scott) got into his vehicle and pursued the victim's vehicle.

The victim's vehicle was found in the 5000 block of North Wayside Drive, about one mile from the Miley Street location. The vehicle had several bullet holes. Three persons were found inside the vehicle. The victim (driver) was shot at least one time, a juvenile male passenger, 9, sustained a small cut from glass shards from the shooting and an adult male passenger, 32, was uninjured.

Scott was taken into custody on Monday (Feb. 19). He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and then booked into the Harris County Jail. Henderson is wanted at this time.
