Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 7018 Sloan Road

February 8, 2021 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 7018 Sloan Road about 10:15 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 7).

The suspect, Roland Roberto Martinez (H/m, 53), is charged with deadly conduct in Harris County Criminal Court #10.  A booking photo of Martinez is attached to this news release.

The victim, Orlando Martinez, 25, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer B. Cerritos reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the residence at the above address and learned Mr. Oscar Martinez had sustained a gunshot wound to the foot during a family disturbance.  Paramedics transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators learned that Oscar Martinez had punched his father, Roland Martinez, in the back of the head.  At some point, the elder Martinez got up, took out his gun and fired three to four shots at an arcade game.  Martinez stated it was not his intention to shoot his son, who told investigators the weapon was not pointed at him.  After the elder Martinez shot at the arcade game, he noticed his son was limping, likely from a bullet that ricocheted and struck Oscar's left foot.  Suspect Martinez then called 911.

Martinez was subsequently arrested and charged in the incident.
