May 18, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 11600 South Freeway (State Highway 288) service road about 5:45 p.m. on Sunday (May 17).  

The identity of the male victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer E. Morgado reported:  

The victim was operating a black Kawasaki All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) along Sims Bayou near the above address and East Orem Drive.  As the operator attempted to cross the bayou, the ATV overturned.  The victim and his three passengers fell into the bayou.  The driver of the ATV was unable to swim out.  The three female passengers, 29, 11 and 7, were not injured.  

The HPD Dive Team responded to the scene and recovered the victim's body.  Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased.  

The investigation is continuing.
