Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2018 Fatal Shooting Investigation at 7600 Beechnut Street

June 11, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man driven to a hospital at 7600 Beechnut Street about 6:30 a.m. on September 2, 2018.

The suspect, Alexei Ricardo Rojas (H/m, 28), is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court.  A booking photo of Rojas is not available at this time.

The victim, Leonardo Dominguez, 28, was taken by private vehicle to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Detective K. Fregia reported:

Officers responded to a report of male with a gunshot wound who had arrived at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital at the above address.  Hospital staff stated an unknown Hispanic male dressed as a security guard drove the victim to the hospital and advised staff he had been shot.  The victim, Mr. Dominguez, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.  The unknown male then left the hospital on foot before officers arrived at the scene. 

Further investigation determined the shooting occurred in the 5900 block of Bellaire Boulevard.  Investigators identified Rojas as the suspect and he was subsequently charged in this case.  On Saturday (June 8), he was arrested by members of the Lufkin Police Department on an outstanding murder warrant.
