August 16, 2019 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5029 Doolittle Boulevard about 11:05 a.m. on March 12, 2018.

The suspect, Bryan Burton (b/m, 24), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court.  A booking photo of Burton is attached to this news release.

The victim, Nicholas Louis, 19, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Spivey and R. Pemberton reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting in-progress call at the above address and learned the victim (Mr. Louis) and suspect(s) had an altercation at a different location a few minutes earlier.  Louis was sitting in his vehicle when a green truck or Chevrolet Suburban pulled up alongside him.  Louis got out of his vehicle, had a brief conversation with a male, and was then shot by one or more persons inside the truck or Suburban.  The truck fled the scene.  Paramedics transported Louis to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation led to the identification of Burton, who was already arrested on an unrelated case, as a suspect in this incident.  On Thursday (August 15), he was charged in the death of Louis.
