November 19, 2018 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 800 75th Street about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 17).

The suspect, Matthew Mendoza (H/m, 19), is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.  A booking photo of Mendoza is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim, 38, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Officers S. Jimenez and K. Heaverlo reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call in the street at the above address and were told that paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.  Officers learned Mendoza and the victim got into an argument about a vehicle.  At some point, Mendoza pulled a pistol and fatally shot the man.  Mendoza was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged.
