Adult Sports and Recreation
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department’s Adult Sports section manages a wide variety of recreational sports opportunities that let grown-ups play like kids-at-heart.
Each year, the office organizes more than 1,200 adult teams. Men’s, women’s and coed leagues are played during the winter, spring, summer and fall seasons, Monday through Friday, for a five-week doubleheader or 10-week single games at locations throughout the city. Additionally, water fitness classes are offered during the summer as a good form of cross-training for recreational athletes and individuals interested in enhancing their health and fitness levels. Rule books for Adult Sports leagues can be found in the Reports and Publications section of this website.
Sports officials are needed to work evening hours officiating sports leagues in such sports as softball, flag football, basketball, volleyball, and kickball. ASA and/or TAAF certification is required; certification training is available. Average pay is $20 - $30 per game. For information, call 832.395.7130 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
