Mayor Turner's Statement Following President Trump's Decision to Withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement
November 4, 2019 -- Earlier today, the Trump administration announced that it plans to officially withdraw from the Paris climate accord next fall.
Please attribute the following statement to Mayor Sylvester Turner.
“As a co-chair of Climate Mayors, this is a very disappointing day. The United States is the only nation to withdraw from this global agreement.
"Houston is committed to doing our part. The City of Houston was named the #1 municipal user of green energy in the nation by the EPA and we will keep working with cities across the U.S. to lead the way.
"We will continue developing our first Climate Action Plan which will formalize our goals going forward.Our federal government may be stepping aside, but local government will continue to step up.”
