Mayor’s Street Rehabilitation
The program will extend the life of Houston’s local streets & major thoroughfares based on our community’s needs and data. The initiative will work towards improving street surfaces, curbs, stormwater inlets, sidewalks and accessibility ramps. A lane mile is the total length & lane count of a street. Houston Mayor’s Street Rehabilitation Initiative will improve 210 lane miles of streets each year. (101 lane miles of local streets and 109 lane miles of major thoroughfares). To improve 100% of Houston’s local streets & major thoroughfares this plan will take over 40 years.
