Ride your bike or run to benefit Houston parks and promote physical fitness!

Join us on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at City Hall, 901 Bagby, Houston 77002, for Tour de Houston Presented by Apache Corporation. This is the 11th anniversary of Houston's premier urban bike ride that starts in beautiful downtown Houston. Your registration fee will benefit the RE-Plant Houston Program managed by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD).

With three distance options, there's something for everyone! Distance options include a 70-mile route starting at 7:30 a.m., a 45-mile route that begins at 8:00 a.m. and a 20-mile route that starts at 8:30 a.m. For those riding in the BP MS150, this is a recommended training ride. Volunteers and cyclists will enjoy a free post-ride party back at City Hall with a live band, complimentary food, snacks and drinks.

Registration is open online until March 19, 2016. The day of the event, there will be an opportunity to register in person by cash and check only. The registration fee is $40 for adults and $20 for children, 12 and under. For more details on the bike ride, including registration and packet pick-up locations, visit www.tourdehouston.org.

Bayou City Classic
The Mayor's Wellness Weekend also includes the 39th Annual Bayou City Classic Presented by Apache Corporation on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at City Hall. Proceeds from this event will be donated to The Houston Parks Board for trees.

For those who prefer to leave the bike at home and run, the Bayou City Classic Presented by Apache Corporation includes a 10K race that begins at 8:00 a.m. and a family-friendly 5K Fun Run & Walk that begins at 8:20 a.m. Both races begin and finish near City Hall with a loop through downtown and along Allen Parkway. Registration is open until February 29, 2016.

Draft Houston Bike Plan Released for Community Feedback

The Houston Bike Plan team has released the Draft Houston Bike Plan to receive community feedback. The Plan is a big part of the City's efforts to help make Houston a safer, healthier, and more accessible bicycle-friendly city. 
The City is seeking your feedback on a draft of the Houston Bike Plan. Please take a moment to fill out a brief survey about the Houston Bike Plan located at https://houstonbikeplan.org/participate. Please share this survey link with anyone you think would be interested in providing feedback about the Plan. Visit the website at HoustonBikePlan.org  for more information about the draft Plan and to let the City know what you think.

The public comment period closes April 11, 2016. The City will then modify the draft Plan based on the feedback received from the community.

How can I help spread the word about the Houston Bike Plan

  • Email your friends and ask them to visit www.houstonbikeplan.org to see the draft Plan and sign up for email updates.
  • Post a message on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram:
