SENIORS AND DISABLED HOUSTON RESIDENTS URGED TO REPORT WINTER STORM DAMAGE TO 311
Hotline available to assist seniorsand people with disabilities with completion of storm damage reports by phone
The City of Houston continues to focus on winter storm recovery efforts and urges residents to report residential damage resulting from prolonged freezing temperatures and power outages. Special accommodations have been made for seniors and disabled persons to report their damages.
The Department of Neighborhoods and the Mayor’s Office of People with Disabilities have created a hotline to assist seniors and disabled residents who do not have internet access with the completion of damage reports by telephone. Residents or family members of this affected community may call 311 or 713-837-0311 and request to be connected to the hotline for assistance. The hotline will be available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 8-22, 2021.
The damage reports will help the City provide an accurate summary of affected structures, which is required for the City and State to qualify for federal recovery assistance. Additionally, it will allow City staff to understand the type of help the community needs as staff coordinates local resource with area partners.
